Where we are after our first term together, answers to your questions, and what a whole-school strategy agreement could look like across all four of our programmes.
See next stepsIn just a few months, Quarrydale has used the full breadth of what we offer. This is a genuinely strong, varied picture to build on.
pupils supported across the school
of our programmes in use (Academy, Blueprint, Compass, Distinction)
live, teacher-led lessons delivered so far, with more running now
positive student feedback to date, with no issues raised
Figures are drawn live from our delivery and feedback records for Quarrydale Academy (first enrolments earlier this year).
The natural next step is a short follow-up to agree how we scale what is already working into a whole-school approach. You can grab a time that suits you directly, and we will walk through this proposal together and shape it around your priorities.
Our Year 8 provision follows a full, sequenced Key Stage 3 curriculum across thirteen subjects, mapped term by term. Because lessons are live and mirror a mainstream curriculum, they are well suited to pupils with extended periods of absence: a pupil can step in and out without falling behind, and returners come back to learning that lines up with their class.
Thirteen subjects, each planned term by term. The core runs every week, with a broad enrichment offer around it.
| Term | English | Maths | Science |
|---|---|---|---|
| Term 1 | Gothic Fiction; Gothic Poetry | Number Sense & FDP fluency; Algebraic Thinking | Patterns & properties of matter; Chemical energy & change |
| Term 2 | Romeo and Juliet; Noughts and Crosses | Ratio & proportion; Transformations & symmetry | Systems in the human body; Electricity & magnetism |
| Term 3 | Animal Farm; analytical & creative writing | Geometry & measures; Graphs & coordinates | Forces, energy & further enquiry |

Every lesson is delivered live by an experienced teacher, with pupils joining through chat, voice or camera at their own comfort level. There is a low-pressure entry for new and returning pupils, the sequence mirrors mainstream so there is no gap on return, and each pupil has a Learner Profile the teacher builds and updates as they progress. It suits anxious, medical, EBSA and behaviour-related absence equally well.
Quarrydale already uses all four. A strategy agreement keeps every one of them on tap, so the right support is there the moment a pupil needs it.
Full managed online provision for pupils out of school, in small groups, following a structured timetable and curriculum. Best for stabilisation, anxiety, medical or post-exclusion.
Live group teaching inside your own system and scheme of work, up to six per group. Best for reintegration, gap-filling and in-school alternative provision.
One to one and very small group, SEND-informed delivery. The default for EHCP pupils and those at risk of exclusion, pitched to age-related expectations with specialist scaffolding.
Group stretch and exam preparation for capable pupils working below target. Reverse-planned from the target grade and exam board.
Optional add-ons: parent engagement (welcome calls, fortnightly check-ins, parent dashboards) and termly written reporting per pupil. An Enhanced Mental Health add-on is available at £180 per learner per month.
Each programme has its own quality rubric, with every metric scored Inadequate, Developing or Established. Lessons are observed live and reviewed against the rubric for the model in use.
Differentiation and age-related expectations, behaviour and managing the mix, learner profiles, understanding checks, engagement and interaction, lesson structure, teacher energy and rapport, professionalism, handling low or no participation, and a student feedback report.
Compass scores the what, how and who for a single named learner, with adaptive teaching and pedagogical selection at its core. Distinction is reverse-planned from the target grade, scored across six metrics on precision, assessment and exam-board accuracy.
You and your nominated colleagues can observe any live lesson, and all lessons are recorded for quality assurance, safeguarding and moderation.
Rather than arranging support pupil by pupil, a strategy agreement makes Purple Ruler a standing part of Quarrydale's inclusion offer, across every key stage and all four programmes. Here is what it puts in place.
Academy, Blueprint, Compass and Distinction available across KS3 and KS4, so the right model is ready the moment a pupil needs it, with no fresh negotiation each time.
Agreed rates held for the life of the agreement, with simple per-group and per-pupil pricing so your budgeting is predictable across the year.
Quarrydale pupils are prioritised when setting timetables and allocating teachers, so support starts quickly when it is needed most.
One named account lead who knows your school, your priorities and your pupils, coordinating across all four programmes.
Welcome calls, fortnightly check-ins, parent dashboards and a detailed termly report per pupil, in a format we can match to your own template.
An onboarding review, half-termly reviews of attendance, engagement and progress, an end-of-term review, and ad-hoc reviews whenever something needs attention.
We would shape the exact scope, volumes and review cadence with you, and set the launch and schedule together rather than committing to fixed timings here.
Every pupil gets an academic summary against age-related expectations or target grade, plus a teacher narrative for each subject. Illustrative sample below.
| Subject | Engagement | Working at | Teacher narrative (sample) |
|---|---|---|---|
| English | Strong | On track for ARE | Contributes confidently in discussion and is writing with increasing control of structure and vocabulary. |
| Maths | Strong | Approaching ARE | Secure with number and algebra; growing fluency when reasoning through multi-step problems. |
| Science | Building | Approaching ARE | Engages well with practical enquiry and is recalling key concepts more independently each week. |
Reports follow our house style: positive, evidence-led, benchmarked to ARE or target grade. Pupil names are never shown on shared documents.
"A significant strength of Purple Ruler is the support staff provide for pupils with SEND. Each pupil receives carefully tailored, individualised teaching that helps reignite their spark for learning."
For trusts running this whole-school, our flagship federation partnership pools provision into one inclusion hub and runs 50 to 60 percent more cost-effectively than arranging support school by school. We can introduce you to comparable schools on request.
All staff are vetted and trained to KCSIE. A named DSL (Bella Ma) oversees safeguarding, and all lessons are recorded for audit and moderation.
Pupil data is handled under UK GDPR. Names, logins and EHCP detail are never exposed on shared documents or public links.
Insurance, policies, recruitment and safeguarding contacts are available in our commissioning and compliance pack, with all policies published online.
The best next step is a short follow-up call. We will walk through this together, agree the scope of a strategy agreement, and align it to your priorities for the year ahead.
